Americana Songwriter Lukas Nelson Makes His Tampa Bay Solo Debut in April
Lukas Nelson is far from a new artist. Between writing songs at 11 years old—later to be recorded by his father, to forming Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real at age 20, and winning both BAFTA and Grammy awards for his musical contributions to the 2018 film, A Star is Born, the Maui-raised Texan has been around the block a few times.
With early influences like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix, the 37-year-old son of a legend has continued to carve his own path, slowly shifting his focus from wailing riffs to emotional lyrics.
In 2025, Lukas opened yet another door, releasing his first solo album, American Romance. As Promise of the Real continues to work and tour with Neil Young (whose lyrics inspired the band’s name), Nelson has taken the opportunity to fully embrace his country songwriter side.
After performances with Promise of the Real at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall in 2014, St. Petersburg’s Jannus Live in 2023, and Tampa’s Gasparilla Music Festival in 2024, Lukas Nelson is set to make his Tampa Bay solo debut this spring.
